Networking is a big “buzz word”. Just like “experience” and “style”, networking can be seen to be one of those dirty words that get brought up in a variety of situations.
But it is a very important part of any business. We are not able to survive alone. Just as I’ve talked about before about collaboration and surrounding yourself, you need a network of support. You need to be able to work with people to help grow your business. The great part about networking is that you are able to utilize people that you already know!
The other day, I was speaking with my real estate agent, who is friends with my aunt. She told me about an amazing lady who makes incredible cupcakes. I immediately knew I wanted to work with her! I can’t wait for a chance to meet with her and discuss options for treats to share with my clients when they view their images.
I never would have met her if it were not through my relationship with my agent.
Who do you know already that may be a new network opportunity? I’m sure you know one or two people at least that are also entrepreneurs that are looking to network themselves too. Why not be that contact that they have been looking for?
Or maybe there is already a networking group set up. The Chamber of Commerce is always a great place to start, but check around, most likely there is a group already going. Who knows, your next business partner may be part of the group!
