I saw this post by the amazing Bridgett of Perideau Designs (who has some breathtaking stuff…seriously, check it out!) and just had to share it with my readers!
One of the biggest problems with small business owners is how often they get stuck in the current moment. Trying to tread water and keep going forward at the same time. But as Bridgett says:
A marketing calendar is a way to evaluate your business and determine where it’s going.
This is so true. Taking just a little bit of time out of one day you can put together your goals for the future. Once they are written down, it becomes so much easier to accept that these are things that you can and will achieve. It can also help get you ahead of where you were when you started. You may have thought about doing a Christmas mini-session event last year, but didn’t really start thinking solidly about it until it was suddenly Thanksgiving. But, if you had a marketing calendar that covered the entire year, you would have known that in October was when you should start announcing dates for Christmas minis.
Viewing your plan for the whole year will also allow you to plan in planning time! You’ll be able to see where you have a slower time in a month. A time where you can work on your business. Take a breather and be able to build up your structure. Maybe use that time to reorganize your office. Or go fully paperless, including all your client information into an online based program like ShootQ, Studio Cloud or Mobile Fotographer.
Visit Bridgett’s post and get a great idea on how to set up your own Marketing Calendar and then come back here and tell me all about it! Or better yet, tell Bridgett!
I know I’ve been working on mine….can’t wait to share it with you!
